Joomla vs WordPress

The Ultimate debate.

I am not writing this post with graphs and charts comparing the two (I will now call them both) content managemenet systems. Instead, I will tell you my experience. Obviously, this is a site about Joomla and you would think that my opinion was totally biased. In fact, I was almost converted to WordPress when 3.0 was released. It is amazing flexible, easy to use for "newbs" and has a lot of great third party tools. In fact, I still use it from time to time.

Needs based decision

I came to the conclusion that WordPress would be my "goto" platform and I would save Joomla implementations for more robust applications. Recently I decided that that logic was flawed. Joomla is an ideal platform for expansion, so why would I elect to go with the more limited WordPress? So, I made the transition in thinking from leading with WordPress to leading with Joomla. Now, I pretty much limit my WordPress installs to true bloggers or to companies and organizations that only ever want something very basic.
